Pick your strings faster with this tip!
Angling the plectrum (pick) when playing guitar helps build alternative picking speed because it reduces resistance against the strings, allowing the pick to glide more smoothly and quickly. When the pick strikes the string at a slight angle rather than straight on, it cuts through the string more efficiently, minimizing the “catching” or “sticking” feeling. This makes it easier to perform fast, clean up-and-down (alternate) picking motions with less effort and better control. Additionally, angling the pick helps maintain a consistent motion and reduces hand fatigue, both of which are important for developing speed and precision.
